Save the Children is the world’s leading independent organisation for children, operating in almost 120 countries around the world to improve the lives of children. 

South Africa has one of the strongest economies of the African nations and yet many South Africans live in poverty. One in three people don’t always have enough to eat. And one in five children does not go to school. We also have the largest HIV-positive population in the world.

Save the Children has been working in South Africa for over 65 years to ensure that children are able to access quality education, health, housing, and are protected against violent crime.  Every year we reach over 100,000 children in need of care and protection.

Our mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way South Africa treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives through working with children, communities, civil society organisations and the government of South Africa.
