Job Purpose:


The Programme Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the Save the Children South Africa’s Johannesburg Team. The incumbent will assume responsibility for the day-to-day administration and management of the Johannesburg office. The incumbent will also assist with the coordination of the programme logistics, planning of the training activities, procurement of services, materials and coordination of the programmes team’s travels.




Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide project/programmes administrative and logistical support;

  • Provide reports and assistance to programmes staff on administrative needs;

  • Manage project assets and support documentation of these assets;

  • Provide administrative support for project related procurement;

  • Provide secretarial support to the programme including compiling timely minutes of weekly, monthly and other meetings, as required;

  • Providing a point for communication between the programme and its partners, including receiving and transmitting telephone, email communication; disseminating minutes of meetings and reports

  • Responsible for logistical arrangements and preparation of the programme meetings, project training and other related events;

  • Act as the point of contact for internal and external clients

  • Liaise with programme officer to handle requests and queries from Programmes team/Director

  • Assist in developing documents when required

  • Manage and maintain a good filling system of all relevant programme information













Minimum Requirements and experience




  • National diploma, degree or equivalent qualification in one of the related fields: Public administration; business administration;

  • Minimum 1-year work experience in project/ office / business administrator is essential;

  • Strong organizational and office management skills, with excellent Computer Skills;

  • Broad knowledge on public administration reform and working experiences on issues related to project activities;

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, ability to inform and engage through written communication;

  • Some experience in project administration, inclusively on activity planning, reporting, progress monitoring, result evaluation;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); and

  • A Valid Driver’s licence.

Please note the incumbent should be willing to travel to Pretoria as they will receive training in the Pretoria office for one month.
