Save the Children joins forces with Club Med

Save the Children South Africa has joined forces with Club Med, to improve the lives of children in South Africa. The partnership was officially launched at Club Med’s Golf Day, which was held in Midrand early this month. The event saw more R150, 000 being donated to SCSA. The money will be directed towards Early Childhood Development (ECD).
It was raised through an auction. The event saw a family holiday to Mauritius auctioned off to the highest bidder. In a surprise twist during the evening Club Med Managing Director, Olivier Hannaert, doubled the prize collecting R80, 000 and R82, 000 from competing families during the heavily contested event.
“It was great to use our golf day as a springboard for our partnership this year, the response by our valued clients to the Save the Children team and the auction was remarkable. We are excited to see how this partnership grows this year and what positive impact to the ECD programmes we can achieve,” says Club Med’s Nathan Stubbs.
“Education is the best thing we can offer our children, in order to lift them up. We have the power…to change the future,” says SCSA’s CEO Steve Miller. In 2018 SCSA reached 127 853 children directly, mainly through the education programme.
In 2018 SCSA started the implementation of a holistic, integrated programme in ECD, addressing early learning and stimulation, child protection, health & nutrition and child rights governance. With this new partnership with Club Med will work together to secure additional support for ECD programming which is carried out by the child rights organisation in areas such as Alexandra, Gauteng and Tjakastad in Mpumalanga.
