COVID-19: Distributing soaps to save lives

Wednesday 16 September 2020
With new COVID-19 cases reported every day in South Africa, Save the Children & Colgate Palmolive, continue to distribute one million soaps to Early Childhood Development Centres (ECDs) and schools across South Africa.

So far we have delivered 612 639 bars of soap, reaching 216 291 children.

“Thank you so much for your very generous donation of 7 boxes of hand soap, each box contains 96 hand soaps. We also received 2 boxes of Easter Eggs, each box contains 12 Easter Eggs. We are thrilled to have your support. Through your donation we will be able to save some money by not buying soap during this time where we are expected to wash our hands now and again. You truly make the difference for us and we are extremely grateful,”  says Baduduzile Ngidi, a Project Manager at the Mzamo Disabled Children Home in KwaZulu Natal.

Washing your hands with soap and water is key in the fight against Covid-19. The distribution of soaps will help us #ProtectAGeneration from this pandemic.

“We are humbled by the gesture and working together we can save the African child and achieve more,” says Mokoatedi, the Principal of Ramogobe Primary School in Limpopo.

Colgate Palmolive South Africa’s General Manager, Francois Falls has called on people to support the initiative.

“Join us in our bid to make a difference, and remember #SafeHands save lives,” urges Falls.

The distribution of soaps is part of Save the Children’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
