Save the Children calls on the SAPS to do a thorough investigation in the Dros Rape Case

Save the Children South Africa (SCSA) calls on the South African Police Services to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure that the man who allegedly raped a 7-year-old at a Dros restaurant in Pretoria last week, remains behind bars. We welcome the fact that the suspect will remain in custody while the police continue with their probe.

South Africa to host its first Global Goals World Cup tournament

The Embassy of Ireland, Save the Children South Africa, Eir-Soccer, the Royal Danish Embassy of Denmark, Danida, and Global Communications, are among the stakeholders hosting a football tournament for women supporting the United Nations 17 Global Goals dubbed ‘Global Goals World Cup’ (GGWCup) on 13 October 2018.

Breastfeeding is the foundation of life

Save the Children South Africa (SCSA) has urged mothers in Phuthaditjhaba in the Free State, to exclusively breastfeed their infants during the first six months. This was part of the child-rights organisation’s awareness drive during this World Breastfeeding Week (1-7 August).

Human trafficking under the spotlight

Save the Children South Africa (SCSA) CEO Gugu Ndebele, has called for action against the scourge of human trafficking in southern Africa. Ndebele was speaking at a march held in the Mozambican town of Ressano Garcia, near the border with South Africa early this month.

Child Care and Protection Policy on Its Way

The Child Care and Protection Policy could be approved by Cabinet next month, revealed Professor Roseline September from the Department of Social Development, during a Save the Children South Africa (SCSA) seminar at the Marlboro Community Centre in late June.

Save the Children's Role in Fight Against Malnutrition Hailed

Save the Children South Africa’s (SCSA) role in the fight against malnutrition has been praised by government and community members in Limpopo.  The organisation, in partnership with the provincial government, held a Child Health Awareness Day in Mashashane Village on 14 June 2018. This was part of SCSA’s health and nutrition project called Sireletsa Bana.

A drive to empower ECD centres on child protection

Save the Children South Africa has embarked on a drive aimed at equipping ECD practitioners with the tools to take care of children and enhance their resilience to violence.  The primary focus is on prevention of violence against children, reducing the amount of violence that children are exposed to, upskilling children and parents to identify, report and respond to violence.
