Violence against children does not come cheap – last year it cost the economy over R238-billion.

Children’s rights organisation, Save the Children South Africa, has launched a compelling campaign to address the critical issue of violence against children in South Africa. 

Heavy rains in Johannesburg last week claimed 6 lives including that of 3 year old Everite Chauke whose mother, Cynthia, is a participant of the Save the Children book sharing project.

5 year old Palesa had never seen a flushing toilet. That changed recently when Save the Children South Africa in partnership with GS Fencing opened newly built ablution facilities at the Sizolomphakathi community centre, in Mpumalanga.

An attack on a child is an attack on humanity yet every day in South Africa children are experiencing violence in the most horrific ways. 

GSK and Save the Children have launched their fourth annual $1 million Healthcare Innovation Award, which rewards innovations in healthcare that help to reduce child deaths in developing countries and have the potential to reach even more children.
