Uyanda is a visionary executive leader, social impact champion, and global advocate for the Deaf community, with over 20 years of experience in corporate social investment (CSI), stakeholder engagement, and policy advocacy. She’s a Master of Philosophy in Corporate Strategy Candidate at GIBS Business School where she’s currently drafting a white paper to introduce South African Sign Language from Grade R to Grade 3.
As Chairman of Uyanda Mbuli Corporation (UMC) and Global Advocate for the South African National Deaf Association (SANDA), she has led large-scale initiatives bridging business and social good, securing the official recognition of South African Sign Language (SASL) and mobilizing funding for Deaf inclusion. Previously, she held board leadership roles at the Gauteng Film Commission (GFC) and TARA Hospital and served as an executive at the Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA), reinforcing her expertise in governance, stakeholder relations, and urban development. With a background in corporate, government, and media leadership—including roles as Deputy Director General at the Gauteng Department of Economic Development—Uyanda has driven policy influence, stakeholder engagement, and media for social change.
A dedicated philanthropist, she founded the Uyanda Mbuli Youth Empowerment Project, which has uplifted marginalized youth for over 28 years. Her influence extends into sports governance, corporate affairs, and multilateral partnerships, making her a thought leader in social impact, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
